What students will experience

01 — Try Different Instruments

Students get to explore a variety of percussion instruments in a guided, structured way—learning how each instrument sounds, feels, and “speaks.” This is where curiosity becomes confidence.

They’ll practice:

  • basic playing techniques (hands, sticks, control, dynamics)

  • listening skills (loud/soft, long/short, high/low)

  • instrument care and respect for shared tools

02 — Learn Music Patterns

We introduce rhythms through games, call-and-response, clapping, stepping, and ensemble playing. Students learn how to keep a steady beat, follow cues, and play together as a group.

They’ll build:

  • timing and coordination

  • focus and memory through rhythm patterns

  • teamwork and leadership (taking turns to lead)

03 — Make Your Own Drum

Students create a drum (or percussion instrument) with simple materials - turning imagination into something real. This is a favourite for building ownership: “I made this - I can play this.”

They’ll gain:

  • hands-on creativity and problem-solving

  • pride in making + making sound

  • a personal connection to rhythm

04 — Meet the Music Animals

In this signature theme session, students explore rhythm through animal characters - using movement, masks/props, storytelling, and sound to bring the “forest” to life. It’s playful, expressive, and especially great for students who learn through imagination.

They’ll explore:

  • musical storytelling and expression

  • dynamic changes (quiet sneaks, loud stomps, fast/slow)

  • confidence through creative play

05 — Get Ready to Perform!

We bring it all together with a friendly performance moment -where students practice stage presence, group coordination, and celebration. This is not about being perfect; it’s about showing up with courage and joy.

Students learn:

  • how to start/stop together and follow cues

  • how to listen while playing in a group

  • how to share music with confidence
